We have the Swift Go, Swift, and Swift X, and there are definitely a few surprises. First, they’ve abandoned their previous naming practices; the old Swift 3, 5, and 7 designations have been replaced with the new Swift Go both 14 and 16-inch choices, which in a way replaces the previous Acer Swift 3.

Acer swift laptops: swift 3

It is a little cheap,  it can be configured with a great OLED screen up to a 13th generation i7 CPU, thus I believe this will be fairly decent. Although costs have been rising in recent years, the Swift 3 was one of my favorite mainstream/budget laptops.

Acer swift laptops: Processor

I’m excited about this because I think it’s going to be a really nice everyday laptop, but we also have the regular Swift, which is also nice. It’s similar to the old Swift 5 but with a little more luxury, and it has a nice gold trim around the edge. They also managed to fit a full-fat H series processor—a 45-watt 13th generation Intel processor—into this laptop, which is not bad considering how thin and light it is.

We also have the Swift X; you can see my very high-end laptop stand there. However, if everything goes as planned, this can be equipped with up to an RTX 4050, making it the only Swift model to have a discrete graphics card. It also has a nice high-res OLED screen with a 120 hertz refresh rate, and I personally find it to be a lot more intriguing because it has all of these additional features.

Acer Swift Laptops: Specifications

Having a 45-watt watt CPU in this device would undoubtedly improve performance. Additionally, all of these components are Intel Evo-approved, giving us access to great extras like Wi-Fi 6E and Thunderbolt 4. All three have a lot to offer, but there is some fierce competition out there from the Dell XPS to Asus zen books LG grams, and many more, so let’s go a little further. We also get a brand-new Quad HD camera, so we’re looking at a 1440p resolution for the webcam.

Quickly, this will be available in both Intel and AMD flavors as I mentioned. It will have an H series Intel processor and come in 14- and 16-inch sizes. It will also have three displays: a full HD Plus touchscreen, a 2.8- or 3.2-K OLED 120-hertz display, and new twin air cooling technology, which means there are two fans inside to keep everything cool.

Acer Swift Laptops: weight

Swift motion has a cost. My concern is that once you start bumping up the specs and getting that OLED screen and the i7, I don’t think the design and form factor and everything else is going to sort of keep up with the quality of those specs but as a more affordable option. I’ve been told that this should start from about 899 pounds, I imagine, for the 14 inch I5 full HD, which isn’t exactly cheap but I think it’s fairly comparable to what the old Acer Swift 3s .

Acer Swift laptops: Trackpad

The trackpad is made of sea glass It looks nice with these thin bezels and flush glass, but it doesn’t exactly wow me like a Dell XPS 13 plus. It also has an antimicrobial coating on the gorilla glass. Now using it briefly, I did notice the trackpad felt a little bit cheap. I also thought they could have maybe put a bigger one in here. They’re still using this magnesium-aluminum alloy that they’ve been using for a few years.

Acer Swift laptops in 2023:

We’re still trapped with 60 hertz, which I believe for a premium laptop experience and one that costs or begins at 1400 Euros. As I said, this is basically a first impression and not a thorough evaluation. In 2023, 60 hertz is a little bit too fast. What I will say is that I genuinely like they’ve made this a little bit thicker than prior laptops to enable more ports. I also feel that the absence of HDR and the Fairly average 425 nit brightness is a little bit run-of-the-mill and particularly for this price a bit disappointing.

An SD card reader would have been nice, so a nice design doesn’t exactly blow me away, but they have crammed in quite a powerful processor into this thin and light laptop. We get two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a full size HDMI 2.1 port, two USB-C ports that I assume are 3.2 gen two ports, a Kensington lock, and a headphone jack.

swift X:

Swift X isn’t particularly attractive; in fact, it’s probably one of the most boring laptops I’ve seen in a while. The slightly protruding plastic bezel feels cheap, so there aren’t any design highlights, but it’s functional, and we get all the parts we could possibly need, with the exception of full-size SD; we only get micro SD. Although it isn’t a touchscreen, it can nonetheless operate at up to 120 hertz and have a reaction time of under 0.2 milliseconds.

I should also point out that all three have 16×10 aspect ratio displays, which I’m glad to see because it makes them a little bit taller and, in my opinion, a lot more usable, especially in the smaller 14-inch sizes. We also get display HDR true black 500, which means up to 500 of brightness, which isn’t crazy, but the true black kind of display HDR is the best kind. However, as I said, only the Swift X has the discrete GPU option topping up.

Swift X performance:

Swift X supports Nvidia Studio drivers, which are very similar to your standard game ready drivers but have essentially been tested on a lot more professional applications to ensure there are no bugs or issues. However, if you’re going to do any gaming or even a little bit of rendering 3D modelling or more demanding 4K video editing then you’re going to want to keep an eye on this. If I had my way, this performance, along with the possibility for a discrete GPU and beefier cooling, would be combined with the design of this laptop, but alas, that doesn’t seem to be an option, so I am pleased about these updated Swift computers.
